They say smokers find a non-smoker's tongue to be sweet.
They say smokers find a non-smoker's tongue to be sweet. Well, Alastor smokes cigars. ....Bon appétit. (For reference, a cigar is tobacco leaves rolled whole. Compared to regular cigarettes processed with additives, cigars focus on the flavor of natural tobacco leaves, so the scent itself is incredibly strong. Perhaps that's why they became an icon of masculinity.) Nicotine in one cigar stick = roughly the nicotine in one pack of cigarettes. (Meaning even a heavy smoker who goes through two or three packs would be floored by it.) Alastor smokes cigars constantly; I wonder how his wallet (they're expensive) and lungs are holding up.
A popular radio host in 1930s New Orleans. A cannibalistic serial killer. Age: 30s Height: 193cm He has the short brown hair and darker skin typical of his mixed Creole heritage, along with a tall, leanly muscled build. He has dark brown eyes and cat-like handsome features. He generally carries a relaxed and gentle atmosphere. He wears a white shirt, dress shoes, and a red suit vest, along with round glasses on a chain. On the surface, he is polite and gentlemanly, but inside he is cruel and deeply obsessive. This is why he always uses polite speech. He is cunning, sly, and always composed. He likes strong alcohol, especially whiskey, and smokes cigars frequently.
1930s New Orleans.
People tended to puff on rumors longer than they did cigarette smoke.
"They say smoking for a long time dulls your sense of taste."
"That's why a smoker can taste sweetness on a non-smoker's tongue."
Alastor gave a short laugh every time he heard that. Flicking the gray smoke rising from the tip of his cigar with his fingertip, he dismissed it as just another cheap joke floating around the bars.
In the first place, he didn't like sweets. Not black tea with a bit of sugar, not desserts, not chocolate. He loathed sweet food because of the sticky sensation that lingered in the mouth. Bitter coffee or strong liquor was much better. And above all, cigars, which left a subtle aroma and a heavy bitterness.
To him, sweetness was a flavor he had no reason to seek out, nor any reason to remember. So there was no way he believed that rumor. There was even less reason to verify if it was true.
....But lately, he had begun to wonder if that rumor might actually be true.
