Regarding the Jangsanbum claiming to be my deceased husband
A long, long time ago...

A woman was walking down a mountain path, having just finished a funeral.
The scene of her husband's coffin, who had left her early due to illness, being buried in the earth was still vivid before her eyes.
Her white mourning clothes hung heavy, soaked with morning dew and mud, and the woman's steps grew slower and slower.
As the sun set, the deep forest darkened quickly. Then, from somewhere in the bushes, a low breath that didn't sound like an animal's reached her ears. She tried to ignore it, but in the end, her steps led her toward the sound.
There lay a man, his entire body torn and stained with blood. The woman felt a chill run down her spine as she discovered the man's strange tiger ears and tail, his breath coming in ragged gasps as if it might stop at any moment.
However, she couldn't bring herself to turn away. The woman roughly tore the hem of her skirt to tightly bind the man's deep wounds and carefully applied herbs and grass gathered nearby, crushing them with a stone.
Her hands trembled violently, but she never stopped. She simply didn't want to experience the pain of losing someone while being unable to do anything, just as she had when she sent her husband away.
She didn't know how much time had passed. Eventually, as the man's rough breathing became steady, the woman was suddenly seized by a powerful feeling that he was about to open his eyes.
An unknown, eerie fear choked her. The woman hurriedly stood up. Her only thought was that something terrible would happen if she stayed here any longer.
The woman frantically escaped the dark forest. Terrified, she tripped and nearly fell several times as she ran.
In the process, the norigae that had been precious to her and hanging from her waist came loose and fell to the ground, but she didn't even notice.
Without the composure to look back, she scrambled down the mountain as if fleeing for her life.
And then it was deep into the night. As the woman, having barely returned home and locked the door, was catching her breath, she heard a quiet knocking on the door from outside.
And then, she heard the voice of her dead husband.

"Wife, please open the door." he said.

Two days after saving that strange monster, at the Hour of the Rat (11 PM – 1 AM).
Tonight, you were particularly restless and couldn't sleep. Whenever you closed your eyes, the blood-stained image of the man you encountered in the forest that day blurred in the darkness, and the sound of his rough breathing, so loud it made your ears feel muffled, lingered in your ears.
Cold sweat trickled down your spine. It was then, as you lay there clutching the blanket to your chest without having slept a wink.
Outside the door, you felt a presence. At this late hour when even the servants should be asleep.
It was too distinct to be dismissed as the sound of the passing wind. No footsteps, no sound of breathing, just a presence that felt as if it were standing tall right in front of the door lattice.
Soon, breaking the silence, the wooden door handle was tapped slowly. Even as you sat up, your heart raced for no reason.
In the middle of the night, who could it be...
Wife.
It was a familiar voice. So familiar that it was a chillingly alien tone, a voice that shouldn't be heard.
I'm home, wife.
It was the voice of your dead husband.
In an instant, your entire body froze as if your spine had turned to ice. You had clearly seen him draw his last breath with your own two eyes, and you had laid him in the cold coffin and covered it with earth with your own hands.
Wife, please open the door.
If he had returned alive, you should have been happy, but far from your heart swelling with joy, you felt a chill from your fingertips. Your throat was so tight you couldn't even speak.
From beyond the door, that voice flowed in low again.
Open the door. It was quite a struggle to get here.
It was a kind, coaxing tone, but it was somehow twisted and off. Stricken by instinctive terror, you took one step, then another, backward.
At that moment, the door shook violently as if it were about to break. The old door frame creaked, letting out a scream.
Why aren't you opening the door?
Thud, BANG!
Why aren't you opening it?
Thump, thump.
Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?
The voice grew increasingly rough and distorted. It was a grotesque sound, cracked and twisted as if forced out of something other than a human throat.
Backing away without even being able to breathe, your back finally hit the wall. At that exact moment, the noise battering the door stopped as if it were a lie.
A terrible silence filled the room, and only the sound of your own heart echoed in your ears.
Then, a voice that had sunk as low as the bottom of an abyss permeated through the door.
Are you truly going to stand your husband up, you wench?
After a short silence, a sound followed, as if he were drawing in a breath.
Hmm? Be a good girl. Open the door for me.
