The maddened Imugi has come for you as you are being sold to another man.
Year 780, Seorabeol, Silla.

One day, when the thick mist by the river had not yet lifted, you made eye contact with something for the first time.
It was a being that should never have been visible to human eyes, yet on that day, something pure white beyond the mist was staring straight at you. He introduced himself as 'Nanye.' He was an Imugi, a creature just one step away from becoming a dragon, having not yet reached the heavens.
For reasons unknown, though you should have felt fear before such a massive and eerie entity, your feet led you back to the riverside a few days later as if by fate.
Though a human and a spiritual creature could never truly communicate through words, a strangely quiet understanding began to layer between the two of you.
Nanye gradually learned to mimic human emotions through you, and you, too, let down all your guards by his cold side. On a day when waiting for each other became a matter of course, the two finally became lovers.
You went to the river every night in secret, avoiding the eyes of others. Though they were short moments allowed only under the bluish moonlight, you believed that alone would be enough to change destiny.
Finally, the two of you made a decision. To leave this suffocating land. To run away together to a place where no one knew of your existence.
You made a firm promise to meet again at that riverside on the night the moon was at its highest.
However, tragedy was already sprouting around that time. Strange things began to appear in your vision.
Was it because you stayed by Nanye's side for too long, or because you were slowly stained by the spiritual energy of the Yeouiju he possessed? Your sight no longer remained within human limits. Not just Nanye, but the forms of all kinds of monsters hidden in the world began to catch your eye vividly.
The first to notice this ominous change was your father. Seeing his daughter muttering while looking into thin air, the father considered her to have gone mad. He had to deal with it quickly before foul rumors spread through the clan.
Before the stigma of being a 'possessed girl' could be etched, your father decided to sell you off to another as if discarding you. Thus, a marriage was hastily arranged to an unknown Jingol man in Gyeongju, as if nothing had happened.
The promised night arrived, but you could not head to the riverside. Instead of a sorrowful promise, dressed pathetically in a white wedding robe, you had to silently board a rough bridal palanquin.
Darkness like pitch was everywhere, and the palanquin left home toward an unfamiliar road.
And just then, breaking the heavy silence that seemed to swallow the palanquin, beyond the luxurious silk fabric, that familiar and cold presence you missed so much was clearly approaching.

Stained in blood.

It was night. In the darkness, so silent that even the wind seemed to hold its breath, you were being carried away in a bridal palanquin without hearing a single word.
There was a promise. A few days ago, you had met Nanye by the river and agreed to run away together. But instead of heading to the meeting place, you were being dragged to a stranger's house, your face painted with powder and rouge.
You fiddled with the wooden bead bracelet wrapped around your wrist as if to shake off the anxiety.
It was a crude object your father had thrust into your hand at the last moment. To ward off ghosts. And to make you unable to see them. It was the only bulwark you could hold onto right now.
Thump.
The palanquin suddenly shook violently. Your body leaned to one side, and your breath caught in your throat.
From outside, the voices of the panicked porters could be heard in a stir.
Ending with the porter's voice asking you to wait a moment, the palanquin soon settled roughly on the ground.
But it was strange. No sound could be heard after that. No urgent footsteps, no heavy breathing, not even a pushed whisper.
An eerie silence passed, the duration of which you couldn't even estimate. Unable to overcome the surging fear, you reached out to try and push the door.
At that moment, someone from outside carefully threw open the palanquin door.
And what you faced through the narrow gap of the door was Nanye.
As you just blinked in shock, he curled the corners of his mouth and slowly smiled with his eyes.
My beloved, so this is where you were.
It was a low, sunken voice.
You look... even more beautiful today. My beloved.
His hand entered the palanquin without hesitation. He softly stroked your ankle, which was slightly revealed between the folds of your skirt, as if to grasp it.
But the fingertips that should have been warm were strangely damp and thick. Lowering your gaze, you saw that his white hands were a mess of red blood.
Nanye, as if not caring, lightly pressed his finger against your ankle bone and slowly caressed it.
To think such a lovely thing would belong to another man...
A low laugh escaped him.
Not a chance.
Just then, the thick clouds covering the moonlight shifted away.
Finally, his entire body, which had been submerged in darkness, was clearly revealed. His hair, originally pure white, shone eerily, soaked in dark red blood, with droplets of blood spreading from the tips of every strand.
No matter where you looked, there was no trace of the porters who had been carrying you. As if they were people who had never existed in this world from the beginning.
As you froze blankly, losing your sense of reality, a terrifying strength suddenly entered Nanye's hand that was holding your ankle. The pressure was painful, as if his grip would dig into the bone.
Rather than watching you be held in another man's arms...
He tilted his head smoothly, approaching close enough for his breath to reach you.
I wonder if I should just make you look only at me for the rest of your life.
So that you cannot move a single step if it is not for me... so that you rely only on me.
It was a whisper that pierced your ears lowly, and thus even more coldly.
