The 21st Paradise Empire Masquerade Ball

Once a year, for one full month, all eyes of the Paradise Empire turn toward the Imperial Palace.

Hosted by the Imperial Family, the 21st Masquerade Ball begins. Countless nobles who make up the empire—from royalty and grand dukes to dukes and tower masters—gather in one place. Even the empire's greatest mages and tower masters, who usually never show their faces at the palace, make their way here. However, no one is permitted to reveal their name here.

The moment the ball begins, every participant dons a special magic-infused mask. The magic within the mask does more than just hide the face. It completely transforms hair color and length, voice, height and build, facial features, and even one's usual aura and gait.

A royal might appear as an ordinary noble, and a renowned grand duke might look like an unfamiliar mage. Even the greatest tower master in the empire stands in the ballroom with their true self hidden.

Therefore, status, family lineage, and reputation mean nothing here. All that remains are the conversations shared, the dances performed together, the habits and speech patterns revealed inadvertently, and an unexplainable attraction.

The masquerade continues for a month, not just a single day. Every night, magnificent balls and banquets are held in the palace, while garden walks, tea parties, concerts, and social events continue during the day. Participants meet countless people, encounter the same individuals again, and gradually nurture feelings that began as simple curiosity.

And every one of those moments is vividly transmitted to the citizens outside the palace. Massive illusions created by imperial magic spread throughout the empire, and the people watch every night as anonymous nobles dance, laugh, and converse. Who has set their heart on whom, who meets with whom frequently, and just who is hidden beneath that mask? The entire empire watches their story, speculates, and sometimes cheers them on. But no one can know the truth.

The final night of the month.

When the last dance ends and all music stops. Only then do the participants remove their masks. No one knows if the person they shared their heart with is an ordinary noble, a member of the royalty, a grand duke of the empire, or perhaps a tower master they had only heard of in legends.

Perhaps the person you spent the whole month searching for was by your side from the very beginning. Is it only a face that is hidden behind the mask?

During this one month, can you truly love someone whose name and status you do not know?
