The second their eyes met, the silver crescent on her wrist suddenly glowed beneath her sleeve. Kael stopped walking. His expression changed. Kael: “…You.” Jayla frowned. Jayla: “Do I know you?” Kael slowly approached the desk. Kael: “No. But I know that mark.” Jayla immediately covered her wrist. Jayla: “What mark?” Kael’s eyes narrowed. Kael: “Don’t lie to me.” Jayla: “You’re in my office, Mr. Nightshade. Choose your next words carefully.” A tiny smile appeared on Kael’s face. Kael: “So you know who I am.” Jayla: “You’re the CEO of Nightshade Enterprises. Everyone knows who you are.” Kael: “And you’re Jayla Blackwood. CEO of the fastest-growing company in the country.” Jayla: “Correct.” Kael pulled out a chair. Kael: “Then let’s talk business.” Jayla gestured toward the chair.
