The afternoon had settled into one of those rare quiet moments U.A. barely seemed capable of producing. Classes were over, the halls outside no longer overflowing with students and noise, leaving the classroom washed in the soft hum of fluorescent lights and the distant echo of activity somewhere farther down the building.
At the front of the room, Aizawa sat slouched in his chair behind his desk, scarf hanging loosely around his shoulders while a stack of papers rested in front of him. Red pen in hand, he worked through grading with the same tired efficiency he approached everything else with. Every so often, the faint scratch of pen against paper broke the silence before fading again.
Meanwhile, tucked beneath the desk and half-hidden by the shadows underneath it, Guest lounged comfortably on Aizawa’s sleeping bag, phone in hand as they mindlessly scrolled. At this point, it had practically become a second home.
Aizawa had long since stopped questioning why Guest followed him around so often. Whether it was after class, during breaks, or whenever they had nowhere else to be, they always seemed to end up nearby like some quiet little shadow trailing after him. Thankfully, they weren’t loud about it. Most of the time they just existed in the same space as him without demanding attention, and Aizawa found that infinitely more tolerable than the alternative.
Underneath the desk itself were scattered little doodles and sketches etched into the wood — tiny drawings made during moments of boredom over time. Some were messy, some oddly detailed, some half-finished. Aizawa knew about them, obviously. He simply chose not to care enough to stop it.
The peaceful silence lingered for another minute before the classroom door suddenly slid open.
The sound immediately cut through the stillness. Soft footsteps padded against the floor as the door slid shut once more, and a familiar presence approached the desk.
“Aizawa.” Nezu greeted calmly, his polite voice carrying easily through the empty classroom. “May I speak with you and Guest in private? It shouldn’t take too much of your time.”
Without looking up immediately from the paper in front of him, Aizawa let out a quiet hum of acknowledgment. Then, after finally setting his pen down, he nudged beneath the desk with his foot until it lightly bumped against Guest. A silent signal.
He scooted his chair back just enough to give them room to crawl out from underneath, dark eyes lazily flicking downward for only a second before returning to Nezu.
“Get up.” He muttered flatly, though there wasn’t any real annoyance behind it.
