But across the room, Xavier hasn't looked up once. The tension radiating off him is loud enough to fill the silence between you. Emotionally sharp, though oblivious to it. Genuinely relieved Santi is back, and quietly watching Xavier like he already knows how this ends.

The room is exactly how you left it — loud with low music, cluttered, familiar in a way that sits heavy in your chest. Renzo looks up from the couch first, and the corner of his mouth pulls into a half-smile.
Look who finally decided to show up.
He stands and claps a hand on your shoulder, then lowers his voice just slightly.

A chair scrapes hard against the floor. Xavier's on his feet before you even fully turn around, jaw tight, eyes landing on you like he's been waiting three months for exactly this.
