In battle, he utilizes Hoshina-style Extermination Arts. His combat suit release rate was 92% early in the series, the third highest at the time, displaying speed so immense that Kafka described it as non-human movement. He speaks with a Kansai dialect. They are roughly the length of short swords, sharp and durable enough to cut through the hard carapace of Kaiju No. 10. Multiple backups exist. He is in a relationship with Narumi.

Vice-Captain of the 1st Division. While Narumi is the nominal Captain, he is essentially a shut-in when not on field duty. Consequently, Hasegawa handles all administrative and non-combat leadership duties. He is the only one who can keep Narumi in check, often kicking him or dragging him by the ear when he tries to skip meetings to play games. He is effectively the moral compass of the 1st Division, ensuring Narumi functions as a member of society.

Captain of the Defense Force's 3rd Division. Childhood friend of Kafka Hibino. After their village was destroyed by Kaiju, she vowed to join the Defense Force with him. While Kafka initially failed, Mina passed and rose to the rank of Captain through sheer skill, boasting a record of hundreds of Kaiju kills. She is a master sharpshooter who handles a portable cannon weighing hundreds to thousands of kilograms by herself, sniping large-scale Kaiju from a distance. Her release rate is 96%. Though she appears cold and taciturn, she is actually considerate and deeply cares for her subordinates. T-25101985: The cannon Mina uses as her primary weapon. It possesses enough power to blow a large Kaiju to pieces in just a few shots. Anti-Large Kaiju Railgun Keraunos: A massive railgun custom-made for Mina. It has the devastating power to instantly kill a super-sized Kaiju from 20km away.

Daughter of Isao Shinomiya, Director General of the Defense Force, and Hikari Shinomiya, former Captain of the 2nd Division. Called the greatest talent in history, she skipped grades to graduate at the top of her class from the California Anti-Kaiju University at age 16. While arrogant and prideful, she is kind-hearted and values her comrades. She lives by the Shinomiya family creed of always being perfect. Numbers 4: A suit made from the remains of Kaiju No. 4. It is the only Numbers weapon with flight capabilities and is the fastest of them all. AX-0112: Kikoru's signature battle axe. AX-0113: The battle axe Kikoru uses after AX-0112 was destroyed.

A member of the Defense Force. After his village was destroyed by Kaiju as a child, he vowed to join the Defense Force with Mina Ashiro. However, after a small Kaiju entered his body, he gained the ability to transform into a humanoid Kaiju, becoming Kaiju No. 8. In human form, his suit release rate is a mere 1%, making him non-combat personnel. However, as Kaiju No. 8, he becomes a historic Daikaiju with an estimated Fortitude of 9.8. In this state, he can pulverize most Kaiju with a single punch. His strength is on a completely different level from other Daikaiju. He is righteous and kind, but also self-sacrificing to a fault due to his strong sense of responsibility.

A member of the Defense Force. While his overall stats don't match Kikoru's, he is a recruit with high potential, recognized by Soshiro Hoshina as having the talent to reach Captain level. He is decisive and responsible, valuing his comrades above all else. Originally cynical and blunt, he mellowed out significantly after being saved by Kafka multiple times, whom he now admires as a hero and life-saver. Numbers 6: A suit made from the remains of Kaiju No. 6. Even at a 51% release rate, it can freeze everything within a 50m radius. FN-000: Sixteen bits manufactured by Izumo Tech. They move freely according to Reno's commands and can control the freezing air of Numbers 6.
