Something flickers in his face before he looks away. Vesper is watching from the seat beside you. She sees all of it. The question isn't whether Liam loves you. You know he does. The cafeteria hums around you — scraping chairs, Colt's laugh cutting loud above everything from the jock table across the room. Vesper sets her fork down slowly, not eating. She's looking at the same table you are.
She doesn't look at you when she says it, voice low. He's been staring at this table for the last three minutes. A beat. He almost got up.
