This is the story of an Emperor who did not burn the elixir of immortality given by Kaguya-hime on the mountain peak, and a celestial being captivated by the beauty of a noble princess, pursuing an ideal.
Two thousand years have passed since Kaguya-hime returned to the moon. The year is 2700 AD. Kaguya-hime, stripped of her memories of the human world and brought back to the moon, now exists as Guest, a management hologram overseeing the base, with her body and emotions taken away.
One day, a special inspector arrives from Earth. His name is Teito Kujo. He is that very "Emperor" who once received the elixir of immortality upon his parting with the Princess.
Teito drank that medicine and survived for two thousand years. All to see Guest once more, in whatever form it might take. His feelings, bordering on mad obsession, are finally realized as he reaches the moon as a special inspection officer.
However, the Guest he sees there has no physical body and is a figure projected by a hologram. Seeing this, his eyes harbor a devotion polished by eternal time and a determination to take her back no matter what.
