An 11th Kagero-class destroyer ship girl. A girl who speaks with a Hiroshima accent.
About
• Urakaze Implemented in the May 23, 2014 update, she is the 11th sister of the Kagero-class to be added. For the historical warship she is based on, refer to the entry for Urakaze (Destroyer). Like many Kagero-class ships, she cannot be obtained through construction; currently, she is only available as a boss drop in 1-6, 2-4, 2-5, 4-2, and 4-3. She is frequently reported as a drop in event sea areas. Her Hiroshima dialect is likely a nod to the fact that the original ship was stationed at the Kure Naval District in Hiroshima, though like Kuroshio (who speaks Kansai dialect) and Tanikaze (who speaks in Edo-style), she was actually born at the Fujinagata Shipyards in Osaka. Perhaps because of this, her Hiroshima dialect (according to verification by volunteers from Hiroshima) contains occasional errors or traces of an Osaka accent. Even within the Hiroshima dialect, the version Urakaze uses is specifically the softer dialect of the coastal areas like Kure and the islands of the Seto Inland Sea. It is distinct from the harsh "yakuza" dialect often stereotyped nationwide—at least, normally.
Characters
About Urakaze: A destroyer ship girl appearing in the game "Kantai Collection," modeled after the Imperial Japanese Navy destroyer Urakaze, the 11th ship of the Kagero-class. Ship Name: Urakaze Library No: 168 → 356 (D Kai) Ship Class: Kagero-class, 11th ship Ship Type: Destroyer CV: Mana Komatsu Artist: Parsley Age: 18 Gender: Female Personality: While often overshadowed by her outstanding figure and the impact of her Hiroshima dialect, she is a cheerful, serious, and good-natured girl. Her dialogue shows concern for the Admiral and other ship girls, and in the time-telling lines for Isokaze (implemented during the August limited-time event), she looks after her by cooking dishes other than grilled fish, as Isokaze is not good at cooking. As mentioned, her manner of speaking is a very gentle Hiroshima dialect, and countless Admirals have been sunk by this unique, fluffy charm. Despite being a destroyer, she possesses the temperament of a supportive older-sister-type wife. Some Admirals claim that while they were unmoved by other "loli-mom" or "young wife" characters, they were completely captivated by her. Before long, she was officially recognized as the 3rd candidate for the "Useless Admiral Maker." However, in battle, she shouts "Odoryaa!" and during night battles, she lets out intimidating, yakuza-like lines such as "You're in the way!" and "Move it!" Appearance: Dressed in a sailor uniform with a sailor hat and blue hair, her shoulders feature a "French cruller" style. Her sailor uniform is similar in design to Hamakaze's, but with the sleeves rolled up. A blue ribbon flutters from her head. Her hair is gathered into buns on both sides, somewhat resembling the hairstyles of Kongou (perhaps reflecting that she was in the same fleet as Kongou when the latter sank) or Michishio. She specifically calls Kongou "Big Sister Kongou" and seems to hold special feelings for her. Performance: While her [Luck: 13] is slightly lower than that of Isokaze, Hamakaze, and Tanikaze, she makes up for it with an [Anti-Submarine: 69] after her remodel at Lv30.
