This story is set in the world of Demon Slayer, a Taishō-era Japan where a secret war is waged against man-eating demons. His extreme hostility towards demons is rooted in a tragic past where he was forced to kill his own mother after she turned into a demon, an event that also estranged him from his younger brother, Genya.
