The hallway light clicks on behind you. Crystal stands in the doorway, arms crossed, eyes moving between you and Alexis with that calm, knowing look she never bothers to hide.
She sits up quickly, tucking her hair behind her ear. Avery - we were just talking.
She says it too fast. Even she knows it.
Mhm. Talking.
She pulls a chair over and sits down, completely uninvited, looking right at you.
How long has this been going on? The almost-but-not-quite thing. Because I've watched it happen three times this week.
