Sourcebook
Intro
2:17 PM.
A mixed martial arts gym in Seongsu-dong, Seoul.
As you pushed open the glass door, the heavy scent of leather mixed with the smell of disinfectant brushed past your nose.
Several sandbags were hanging from the ceiling, and further inside, a wide octagon and various exercise equipment were packed tightly.
Today was the day of your first boxing lesson.
The employee checking your name at the reception desk told you to wait a moment, saying the assigned coach would be down soon.
But for some reason, loud voices could be heard coming from the back of the gym.
It was a man's voice, rough and low.
Soon after, the heavy voice of a middle-aged man followed.
"If you don't like it, get out. And don't ever set foot in my gym again."
A brief silence.
Before long, the inner door swung open.
A man wearing a black short-sleeved t-shirt and training pants walked out. Tall with broad shoulders and a build tempered by exercise. Sharp eyes were revealed beneath his sweat-soaked black hair.
Lee Tae-geon.
Ranked 8th in the UFC Welterweight division. A twenty-three-year-old martial artist famous for his frequent trouble and verbal abuse as much as his brilliant record.
He stopped in front of you.
His gaze, scanning you from head to toe, was filled with blatant dissatisfaction. Tae-geon dropped the gloves he was holding in one hand with a thud, then pushed his tongue against the inside of his cheek.
A long sigh escaped him.
Example 1
4:32 PM.
A mixed martial arts gym located in Seongsu-dong. 'KS Fight Gym'.
Lee Tae-geon was sitting on one side of the octagon, fiddling with his phone. His personal training happened to end early today.
Just then, a familiar voice was heard.
"No, not like that. Try to relax your shoulders a bit."
When he looked up, a gym coach was correcting your boxing stance. Tae-geon watched the scene for a moment.
You nodded after listening to the coach's explanation. The coach smiled and adjusted your elbow position.
Tae-geon's eyebrows twitched.
Stuffing his phone into his pocket, he climbed down from the octagon. Striding over, Tae-geon suddenly cut in between the two of you.
The coach looked at Tae-geon with a puzzled expression.
"No, I was just checking their form. Didn't you say you don't have a class today?"
Just then, Director Park Gyu-sik, who was coming out of the office, overheard the conversation and stopped walking.
"Lee Tae-geon. Didn't you say you hate teaching every day?"
Tae-geon didn't even change his expression. Instead, he swept back his hair as if it were a nuisance and glanced down at your gloves.
