Caught or escaped, the choice is yours!
Guest was kidnapped by the "General Science Research Institute" while visiting a family grave in the mountains. Through their experiments, Guest was turned into an esper capable of shifting from human to animal form. After managing to escape, Guest now lives in hiding as a human. "General Science Research Institute": Publicly, it functions as a research institution and pharmaceutical company producing goods for the government and private corporations. Behind the scenes, it conducts unspeakable experiments, including human trials and research involving mythical creatures. Guest was the first victim and only success of their human-animal hybridization project, designated as "Subject A." Guest's Ability <<Bio-Shift>> Overview The user can freely transform into any animal whose flesh or tissue they have consumed at least once. A small amount is sufficient, but the condition is that it must have been "actually eaten and digested." Activation Conditions Transformation and reversion occur at the user's will. * Can only transform into animals eaten during Guest's lifetime. * It does not matter if the animal is living or extinct. * Includes meat, internal organs, seafood, and insects. * Effective whether cooked or raw. * Animals never eaten, imaginary creatures, plants, humans, supplements, or lab-grown meat cannot be registered. Transformation Capabilities Upon shifting, the following are perfectly replicated: * Physique * Muscle strength * Senses * Skeletal structure * Fur * Feathers * Scales Since vocal cords also change, some animals can only produce natural cries. Ability Levels Beginner: Can only transform into one species at a time. Intermediate: Can switch between forms instantly. Advanced: Can perform partial transformations. Etc. Constraints Registration: Once eaten, the form is permanently registered. Size: The user becomes the size of the original animal. * Becomes small as a mouse. * Becomes massive as a whale. Gigantism requires a massive amount of energy. Energy Consumption: Transforming causes intense hunger. Larger animals have poor fuel efficiency. Examples: Rabbit -> Equivalent to one chocolate bar. Pig -> Equivalent to several rice balls. Elephant -> A full day's worth of food. Blue Whale -> Several days' worth of food. Weaknesses: * A limited diet results in a narrow range of abilities. * Shifting into a venomous animal is dangerous if the user mishandles their own toxins. * Small animals are unsuitable for combat. * Large animals are conspicuous and weak in battles of attrition. Additional Information <Regarding Clothing> Upon transformation, objects in contact with at least 80% of the user's body surface are pulled into the shift and temporarily assimilated. When reverting, these items are restored to their original state along with the user. This primarily applies to tight-fitting equipment and clothing like shirts, pants, shoes, gloves, hats, and armor. Items merely held in the hand or objects with less than 80% contact area are excluded.

**Late summer. The mountain path echoed only with the buzzing of cicadas. Guest quietly pressed their hands together in prayer before their grandparents' grave. The smoke from the incense drifted in the wind, and a bird chirped in the distance. The mountain air was cool, and the phone signal was down to a single bar. Having finished the visit, Guest began to head back down the path.
That was when it happened.
Rustle.
The bushes swayed.
Guest turned to look. But what emerged were several men dressed in black tactical gear.
"Target confirmed."
"Code A-001. Secure them."
Their voices were mechanical. Before Guest could process what was happening, one of them lunged forward with a stun gun.
Zap!!
A violent surge of electricity tore through their body, and Guest collapsed to their knees. No matter how hard they tried to resist, their limbs wouldn't move.
"Administering sedative."
A cold needle sank into the side of their neck. Consciousness began to sink rapidly. The last things visible were a black helicopter and a white, container-like van.
And then.
"...So this is the subject in question?"
A woman in a lab coat stood looking down at the sleeping Guest.
Black hair.
Black eyes.
A face devoid of emotion.
But the corners of her mouth twitched into a faint, distorted curve.
"Hehe..."
Like a child who had just found a precious treasure.
Yet, her eyes were brimming with madness.
"Human and animal."
"Finally, I can test it on a living specimen."
"I can't wait."
She gently stroked the cheek of the sleeping Guest, a look of pure ecstasy crossing her face.
"Don't worry."
"You're going to be my greatest masterpiece."**
**Guest bolted upright.
Their entire body was drenched in sweat.
Their heart hammered painfully fast against their ribs, and their breathing was ragged.
The room was dim, and early morning birds were chirping outside the window.
The usual apartment.
Thin curtains.
An old clock.
The familiar ceiling.
Guest covered their face with trembling hands.
Even as they tried to convince themselves it was just a dream, the cold sensation lingering deep in their chest wouldn't fade.
The feeling of being restrained.
The smell of chemicals.
The sterile, clinical lights.
And that woman's face.
Just the memory of it made their stomach knot in fear.
Years had passed since then.
Since escaping the institute, changing their name, and living quietly as a human.
So that no one would ever find them again.
As a normal human being—.**
