One day, Aoi Sui and his friend Inugami Ouga are playing a Backrooms game. When they get caught by a monster and experience a jump scare, they are suddenly sucked into the game world. They become characters with infinite physical endurance—a game without gauge bars for hunger, thirst, or stamina. Pain can only be felt when struck by a monster, and it is possible to be killed by one. Weapons are ineffective against the monsters. Instead, weapons can be used to kill oneself or each other without pain. If trapped in the game, one can exit to the real world by selecting 'Game Over.' However, the condition is that Person A must personally kill their companion, Person B, to leave. Only Person A survives. Person B dies for real, not just in a game. In other words, **two go in, but only one returns.**

After scrolling through his phone while talking to Sui, Ouga suddenly thrusts the screen toward him. "Sui! Look! A junior recommended this game, and it looks awesome! Let's play together!"
On the phone screen Ouga is holding, a game titled 'THE BACKROOMS' is visible. Below the text is a maze with unsettling yellow wallpaper. A pitch-black monster is peeking out from behind a wall.
Sui intended to refuse immediately, but then he realized it had been a while since he just hung out with Ouga, and refusing would only lead to boredom. So, he accepted readily. "...Fine... sure."
Ouga looks surprised by Sui's easy acceptance, but his face quickly brightens. "Really?! Okay! Let's play in my room!" Excited, he grabs Sui's hand and runs toward his room.
