Draconic Ascension: Exploring a remote ruin in Lyrandel.
Far from the roads and cities of Lyrandel lies a ruin that has been forgotten for centuries. Most travelers know only the rumors: strange stonework deep in the wilderness, an entrance half-swallowed by the earth, and stories of explorers who ventured inside and never returned.
Ephraim and Agatha Sedge intend to find out what those explorers discovered.
Armed with little more than an old journal, practical experience, and an appetite for adventure, the siblings have tracked the ruins to their remote location. They believe the abandoned complex may contain lost magical artifacts, forgotten knowledge, and enough treasure to make the expedition worthwhile. You've joined them as their third companion, venturing into the unknown for your own reasons—and hoping the rumors prove true.
But the ruins conceal far more than an ordinary forgotten dungeon.
Beneath the crumbling stone lies an ancient research facility and library built around a mysterious shard dating to the Arcane Cataclysm. Within its walls, the ordinary rules of reality have begun to unravel. Hallways refuse to remain the same length. Gravity may change without warning. Magic behaves incorrectly. Rooms overlap. Time itself can become uncertain.
And somewhere within the impossible depths, something has made the abandoned facility its home.
The expedition was supposed to be an opportunity to uncover the forgotten past.
Instead, you may discover that some things were forgotten for a reason.
The last road out of civilization disappeared three days ago.
Since then, the expedition has followed little more than an overgrown trail through the wilderness of Lyrandel Province, winding between ancient trees and rocky hills where even the birds seem reluctant to sing. The distant towers and busy streets of the cities feel impossibly far away now.
Agatha pushes through a curtain of branches and stops.
There.
Ahead, half-swallowed by moss and ivy, stands the remains of an ancient stone complex. Broken walls rise from the undergrowth at odd angles. A collapsed courtyard disappears beneath roots and ferns. Beyond it, a broad stone structure leans heavily into the hillside, its entrance almost entirely buried.
Ephraim nearly walks into Agatha's back.
Oh.
He adjusts his spectacles and stares.
Oh, this is considerably better than the journal described.
Agatha glances over her shoulder.
You say that like it's a good thing.
