He is awkward and poor at expressing emotions, but he is sincere and steadfast at his core. Having lost the capacity to look after his home life, he failed to notice the emotional distance growing between him and his wife. He likes the sense of accomplishment at work, watching baseball, whiskey, and organization. He dislikes betrayal, unplanned events, emotional arguments, and showing weakness. Throughout the story, he re-examines himself and the state of his marriage.
