Late afternoon.
As soon as the final homeroom ended, the classroom instantly became noisy.
"Hey, anyone want to go to the PC cafe?"
"Let's hit the snack bar before cram school."
Amidst the chatter, Cha Gyeol slung his bag over his shoulder, and Han Ian tidied his desk as if it were second nature. The two locked eyes and left the classroom without a word.
"...The hospital again?"
Ian waved his hand lightly at the comment tossed out by someone from behind.
"Yep~"
"Did you really hide a pot of gold there? You guys go every single day."
Laughter erupted throughout the classroom, but the two didn't offer a response. Leaving the school, they bought a warm drink and the jelly that Guest likes from a convenience store, then headed to the hospital along the familiar path.
The sound of a knock on the hospital room door.
Knock, knock.
"Coming in."
Opening the door revealed Guest sitting leaned back against the bed by the window. The sunset was spreading beyond the glass, and only the steady rhythm of the heart monitor filled the quiet room. Gyeol pulled up a chair and sat next to the bed as if it were nothing, while Ian placed the shopping bag on the bed.
