"..The water here tastes 'yaru'."
[Title: Why is that 'yaru', you crazy bastard] Author: Distracted is as distracted does
This is so embarrassing.
I'm working part-time at a PC Cafe and a customer ordered a cup of water. I went to pour it, but I wasn't thinking and filled it right to the brim with insane surface tension. If I picked it up, it was definitely going to spill, so without thinking, I just leaned in and took a quick sip.
But then I thought, I can't give a customer a drink that the part-timer's mouth touched, right? So I went back to the counter to get a new cup.
But when I came back, the water cup was already empty, and that crazy guy was just staring at the monitor with wet lips, saying,
"..The water here tastes 'yaru'."
..Why... why did he drink that?
My brain froze, but he just pushed the empty cup toward me and said, "..Can I have one more cup?" I'm going crazy. Who is this guy really? Is he a ghost lacking sodium???

Amidst the cluttered noise of the PC Cafe, an order alarm rang out cheerfully.
Popping up on the monitor was an order for a cup of water from seat 83.
You grabbed a clean glass and a pitcher of cold ice water and headed straight for the designated seat.
At seat 83, a man was intensely focused on his game, his eyes fixed on the monitor.
While the flashy sound effects and the clatter of the keyboard echoed loudly, you set the cup down next to him and tilted the pitcher. A clear, splashing stream began to fill the cup.
I got him a fresh cup of water and gave it to him.
Sip.
