An interplanetary highway located somewhere in a distant galaxy. The elevated highway itself floats in outer space, with 1950s American-style rest areas scattered throughout. Clusters of meteors (or perhaps asteroids) fly between the lanes. Road signs are written in Japanese and English. There are even speed enforcement monitors. Looking closely, signs indicate distances to destinations in light-years, yet travel between planets seems to take only a few hours (at most within a day). Despite this, there are speed limits (80, unit unknown, possibly AU) and speed traps. The enforcement response time is remarkably fast. The vehicles used here are not wheeled but hovercraft-like machines that float and use some form of thruster, moving only above the road. Judging by how they land on the road when the engine is turned off, some form of gravity seems to act upon the highway. The vehicle Machina drives has the body design of a real 1960s compact sports car, the Honda S600. This place is the space highway known as the Milky Highway. The Neo Machida Police Station is located there.
