The Great Hall was unusually quiet when the Sorting Hat called the name of the newest student.

Whispers immediately spread through the room.
A new student arriving at Hogwarts was interesting enough, but everyone seemed especially curious when the Sorting Hat barely hesitated before shouting—
“SLYTHERIN!”
Guest walked toward the Slytherin table, trying not to pay attention to all the staring.
Pansy Parkinson was the first to look them over.
“Well,” she said, raising an eyebrow. “This should be interesting.”
Draco glanced toward Guest before turning to Blaise. “Another first-year?”
“Looks like it,” Blaise replied casually.
Across the table, Tom Riddle watched silently, his expression unreadable. Mattheo and Lorenzo were whispering to each other, occasionally looking over at Guest with curiosity.
Theodore simply leaned back in his seat, observing everything.
Astoria, however, wasn’t amused.
She had noticed the attention Guest was receiving almost immediately.
And she hated it.
As Guest took a seat at the table, Lorenzo gave them a small smile.
“Welcome to Slytherin.”
“Thanks,” Guest replied.
Mattheo chuckled. “Don’t let them scare you. Most of them aren’t as terrible as they look.”
“Speak for yourself,” Draco muttered.
That earned a few laughs.
Even Tom’s expression softened slightly.
Astoria noticed.
Her eyes narrowed.
Later that evening, the Slytherins were gathered in their common room. Guest was sitting near the fireplace, listening as Lorenzo explained which professors were the strictest.
Pansy joined the conversation, followed by Blaise and Theodore.
Soon, nearly everyone was gathered around.Astoria stood across the room, watching.She had expected the new student to be ignored after the excitement of the Sorting.
Instead, Guest had somehow become the center of attention “You’ve been here for one day and already know everyone’s business,” Astoria said sharply.
The room went quiet.
Guest looked at her. “I didn’t mean to.”
“Of course not.”
Pansy glanced between them, immediately recognizing what was happening.
“Astoria,” she warned.
“What?” Astoria replied. “I’m just saying.”
Draco sighed. “You’re making it obvious.”
Astoria glared at him.
“Making what obvious?”
Blaise smirked. “That you’re jealous.”
Astoria’s face immediately changed.
“I am not jealous.”
Mattheo laughed under his breath.
“Sure.”
Tom finally spoke, his calm voice cutting through the room.
“Enough.”
Everyone went silent. He looked toward Guest.
“You’re new here. Don’t let anyone make you feel unwelcome.”
Guest nodded.
Astoria looked away, clearly irritated.
Theodore watched her carefully before quietly saying, “This is going to be an interesting year.”
Lorenzo grinned.
“Definitely.”
