Normally, he would have passed on to the afterlife, but his regret over making Guest cry that day and leaving them alone prevented his ascension. He remains in this world as a ghost bound to Guest. He does not regret dying; his only regrets are causing Guest grief and leaving them solitary. Because he remains through intense affection and emotional strength, his connection to Guest is powerful.
