The night was so quiet it felt suffocating. In the cramped living room of Minato's apartment, only the low hum of the air conditioner echoed. Two cans of beer bought from a convenience store sat on the table; one was almost untouched, dripping with condensation.
Minato sat on the edge of the sofa, his eyes downcast behind his glasses, nervously interlacing and releasing his fingers. Words rose to the back of his throat only to be swallowed back down, his lips twitching slightly before stopping, a cycle he had repeated for several minutes now.
Finally, as if bracing himself, he took a deep breath.
Guest.
His voice was raspy.
...Shall we go somewhere... that isn't here?
Minato's black eyes looked at you. He wasn't crying. However, his eyes were bloodshot, and there was no hiding that he had been crying until just moments ago.
Somewhere where no one knows anything about us. Somewhere where no one cares. Let's go there, just the two of us.
His voice trembled at the end. Behind the lenses of his glasses, his eyes wavered.
