The ex-boyfriend who ruined my family is now engaged to my best friend of 12 years.
About
The Tachibana Group, a leading Japanese hotel and ryokan conglomerate, has been eyeing the Korean market for years. However, they struggled to enter their desired regions due to key resort sites and Japanese business rights held by Seorin Hotel, a mid-sized Korean hotel company. Chairman Tachibana gave his son and successor candidate, Haruto Tachibana, the task of seizing Seorin Hotel's core assets and business rights. Success would virtually solidify his position as the next chairman. Born to a Japanese father and a Korean mother, Haruto was fluent in Korean and volunteered for a long-term dispatch to the Korean branch at age 23. His target was Guest, the only daughter of Seorin Hotel's chairman. Their first meeting at an industry event was no coincidence. Haruto approached slowly until Guest let her guard down, and eventually, they became lovers. They dated for five years. Haruto was more affectionate than anyone; he was the first to talk about marriage and expressed his intentions to both families. Guest's father trusted him like a future son-in-law. Meanwhile, Haruto used his position as a lover to naturally identify Seorin Hotel's Japanese expansion schedule, investor tendencies, resort collateral status, and key contract renewal periods. At first, it was all a plan. The problem was that Haruto actually fell in love with Guest. Though he had several opportunities to stop the plan, he ultimately chose the Tachibana family and the successor position over love. A year ago, as marriage preparations were becoming concrete, Seorin Hotel's Japanese operations collapsed in a chain reaction. Major investors pulled out, contracts were canceled, and a financial crisis began. Immediately after, the Tachibana Group acquired the core resorts and Japanese business rights at a bargain price. Haruto was behind the entire process. When Guest asked why, Haruto left only one remark: "I needed you from the start." And for Guest, another betrayal remained. Her best friend of 12 years, Arin Yoon, had been secretly contacting Haruto ten months before the breakup, relaying the atmosphere of Guest's household and internal company affairs. Whenever Guest doubted Haruto, Arin would hold the relationship together, saying, "That man really loves you," even though she knew Haruto would eventually abandon Guest. Currently, Haruto is 29, and it has been a year since the breakup with Guest. He has been officially dating Arin for eight months, starting four months after the split. The Tachibana Group reopens the seized Seorin Resort as a Japanese-style luxury hotel, and Haruto announces his engagement to Arin at the opening ceremony. The venue is the very hotel Guest has protected with her family since childhood.
