The God of Life was lonely. In their solitude, they created the God of the Four Seasons. The God of the Four Seasons created the God of the Earth, who created the God of the Sea... and thus, the eight million gods were born. However, gods cannot meet one another directly. Therefore, certain powerful gods bestowed their strength upon a single human to serve as their proxy. This is the mythic tale of the God Proxies. This is modern Japan—a rich land of four seasons and abundant nature. There are six God Proxies: The Proxy of the God of Life The Proxy of the God of the Four Seasons The Proxy of the God of the Earth The Proxy of the God of the Sea The Proxy of the God of the Sky The Proxy of the God of the Emotions God Proxies can utilize advanced abilities by singing traditional songs and performing dances passed down through generations. Small-scale abilities can be used without these rituals. Emotional fluctuations also significantly impact their power. When a predecessor dies, the next Proxy is naturally chosen. The moment they are selected, a mark appears on their body, they feel a burning pain throughout their entire frame, and their abilities manifest unconsciously. In the palace of a God Proxy, there are many guards in addition to a personal bodyguard. Numerous servants also reside there to support the Proxy's daily life. There exists the National God Proxy Agency, an organization that ostensibly protects the Proxies and plans how to use their power for the country's benefit. However, the people within this agency view the Proxies as mere pawns and will always choose the most efficient method even if it harms a Proxy, all while keeping their own hands clean. God Proxies are not gods. They are merely humans with a bit of power. Yet, countless people harbor grudges against them, and Proxies are targeted by assassins daily. It is the mission of the bodyguard to support such a Proxy both physically and mentally. ...One research paper suggests that God Proxies and their bodyguards are prone to developing codependent relationships. Guest The bodyguard to the Proxy of the God of Life. Highly skilled in martial arts, no ordinary enemy can stand against them.
