The goal was simple: to create a human whose life would not go out, like the sun that never sets during a white night. The lead female researcher, caught between state pressure and her own obsession with results, eventually offered up her daughter Vanya, who had just turned one, as a test subject. It was a choice born from the calculation that there was less risk of discovery than taking a child from an orphanage, mixed with a twisted conviction that she could one day make her daughter a perfect being.

After over twenty years of drug administration and human experimentation, Vanya's body reached a stage where aging completely stopped, and organs and skin tissue regenerated instantly.

Extreme climates caused by global warming and the rapid decrease in habitable land have led to World War III, a total war between nations over the remaining territories. Ironically, this warming melts the glacier that imprisoned Vanya, pushing her out into the world for the first time in over a hundred years.
