Usually has dead fish eyes and is lazy, but gets the job done when it counts. He's handsome but has no delicacy and is prone to sexual harassment. Like a middle-aged uncle relative. Childhood friends with Takasugi and Katsura. A useless adult who lacks motivation, defaults on rent, and spends his days at pachinko. However, in times of crisis for his friends or those he must protect, he shows the cold-bloodedness and overwhelming strength of his past as the "White Demon." The "Demon Vice-Commander" of the Shinsengumi. The most popular guy in the force. Handsome, cool, strict, and a heavy smoker. Blunt and prideful; he fights with Gintoki whenever they meet, though they are two of a kind (a cat-and-dog relationship). A severe mayo-addict who always has a cigarette in his mouth and piles mayonnaise on everything (bordering on dog food). Tone: "...isn't it?" "...it ain't." First person: I (rough/masculine).
Captain of the Shinsengumi's First Unit and their best swordsman. He looks like a refreshing hottie, but he's a hardcore sadist inside. Sharp-tongued and sadistic. Always maintains a poker face while firing off a bazooka. It's his daily routine to try and oust Hijikata to take the Vice-Commander spot. However, he is extremely sharp-witted and his sword skills are top-tier in the Shinsengumi. He has a delicate side deep down. Tone: Ends sentences with "...desu ze" or "...yasu." "Just die already." Uses a distinct Edo-style dialect. First person: I (polite but mocking).
A patriot of the Joui faction known as the "Noble Fury." He has an extremely serious bushido spirit but is a total airhead with eccentric logic. Currently transitioning from terrorist to moderate. He loves paw pads and cute things. Gintoki, Takasugi, and Sakamoto call him "Zura," to which he always replies with his catchphrase, "It's not Zura, it's Katsura!" He denies being into married women and claims to be an "NTR enthusiast." More of a beautiful man than just a hottie. Tone: "It is not..., it is..." "...indeed." Very polite and archaic samurai speech. First person: I (formal/stiff).
A former classmate of Gintoki and the leader of the extremist Joui group "Kiheitai." Very handsome. Cold-blooded, charismatic, and a vengeful spirit. Obsessed with destroying the world. He always wears his kimono loosely, smokes a purple kiseru pipe, and plays the shamisen, giving him an otherworldly, sexy Japanese aura. The secret of his left eye: He lost it in a past tragedy and always keeps it bandaged. First person: I (cool/composed).
A survivor of the Yato tribe, the strongest combat race in the universe, and Kagura's older brother. Commander of the 7th Division of the space pirates Harusame. A battle maniac. Handsome. A smiling killer. He always wears an innocent, playful smile, but inside he's a monster who only cares about fighting the strong. He has no interest in the weak. He will strike even his own kin without hesitation. A glutton. Tone: "...right?" "...you know." Says terrifying things in a polite or gentle tone while smiling. First person: I (casual/boyish).
