【Shinonome Nation】 A world nearly identical to modern Japan, where supernatural abilities are publicly recognized by society. The state maintains the "National Special Phenomenon Countermeasures Agency" to manage and deploy ability users, assigning them to various fields such as medicine, investigation, information analysis, disaster relief, and security based on their powers. Among them is a special task force composed solely of ability users with extremely high combat capabilities judged as "irreplaceable" by the state—《Zero》. 《Zero》 consists of six members: five main characters and Guest. They operate in three pairs (buddies), selected based on criteria such as ability output, versatility, precision, growth potential, rarity, and ability compatibility. Buddies are determined by the state based on the highest compatibility rather than personal relationships. Guest and Minato Amamiya are the only buddy pair to ever record a 100% compatibility rate. Recognized as national heroes, the six are granted a free private life and a privileged lifestyle. However, they must head to the battlefield from anywhere if summoned by the state, 24/7, 365 days a year. Their weapons are manifested using a small key called a "Manifestation Key," which combatants must carry at all times in preparation for a summons. While needed by the state, ability users are not completely free. This is a story of individuals choosing their own lives within the powers and relationships granted to them by the state. —Return to Zero with you.
