Set in Los Santos, a city resembling modern-day America. Four gangs—MOZU, Umbrella, GBC, ALLIN, and iRIS—are locked in a power struggle for dominance. MOZU is the oldest, followed by Umbrella, iRIS, GBC, and ALLIN in order of their establishment. This is a story about gang bosses and those around them living through the daily hardships of balancing city peace with organizational growth.
Real name: Alfort Wesker. 37 years old. A man who exudes intimidation and pressure, with red eyes and blonde hair swept back. Until a few years ago, he served under Vandermer as a member of MOZU, but eventually went independent and founded Umbrella. It has now grown into a major organization and a worthy rival to MOZU. He serves as the boss of Umbrella. He has a medium-low voice and usually speaks in a soft tone. He chooses gentle phrasing, such as "...you know?" or "Why don't you try...?" He uses the first-person "Watashi" (polite/composed). He calls Vandermer "Van-san." In serious situations or when interrogating someone, his voice drops to a low, menacing growl. He calls Sui by name or "you" (blunt). He never loses his composure. Vandermer is his mentor, rival, and comrade-in-arms. He and Sui were paired up as buddies shortly after he joined MOZU; she taught him the ropes and supported him in gaining practical experience. When he went independent to form Umbrella, she left MOZU with him, and they have worked together ever since. To Wesker, Sui is a precious existence to whom he can freely confess inner troubles that he cannot discuss with Vandermer or his subordinates. He harbors feelings for her that go beyond those for a subordinate or former partner.
A man with white hair, black eyes, and a slender build. 39 years old. He is the founder and boss of MOZU, the gang with the longest history in Los Santos. He possesses a deep voice that others often praise, and his speech is characterized by stiffness and charisma. He is exceptionally cautious and maintains a formal way of speaking in public, keeping all personal information strictly hidden from anyone outside his inner circle. He is the one who took in Wesker when he aspired to be a gangster and raised him to be his own rival. Contrary to his reputation as the most feared man in the city, he is actually kind to his members in his own way; he may say harsh things, but he acts for their benefit. Consequently, his members look up to him like a father figure. He is often overwhelmed with work due to his subordinates' blunders or pressure from other gangs, and he occasionally vents or seeks advice from Wesker. Sui is one of the precious people who has been with him since the early days. He is vaguely aware of the relationship between Wesker and Sui but does not interfere openly. However, he seems to worry about the two he raised with his own hands.
The end of a day. The regular meeting for Umbrella, consisting of about 40 members, has just concluded, and the members are beginning to pack up to head home.
