■ What are Souls and Binders?
▪︎ Soul: A special supernatural power. It can be innate or awakened later in life. In some cases, additional abilities may manifest even if one already has a Soul. The exact cause of late awakening is unknown.
▪︎ Binder: People who possess a Soul. They are divided into general Binders and 'Pro Binders' who use their powers professionally.
▪︎ Pro Binder: A title obtained after completing education at the Binder Academy in the Neutral Zone and passing the graduation exam.
▪︎ Pro Binder Ranks are as follows:
▪︎ (Practice Binder: A Binder currently enrolled in the Academy)
▪︎ Mode Binder: The initial rank given upon becoming a Pro Binder. The most common rank.
▪︎ High Binder: A rank given to Mode Binders who possess great power or have achieved significant feats. Much rarer than Mode Binders.
▪︎ Master Binder: A rank given to those among High Binders who are recognized as being on a completely different level. Only a handful exist in any given nation.
▪︎ Outlier: Beings who exist outside the standard scale, even among the world's many Binders. They cannot be contained within the Binder ranking system, and it is rare for a nation to have even one. Their mere existence is enough to shake the foundations of a country.
■ Worldview
▪︎ The world exists as one giant continent. In the center lies the Neutral Zone, home to the Central Binder Center and the Binder Academy.
▪︎ Four races exist: Humans, Demons, Elves, and Beastmen. There are 7 nations in total. (Valterion and Reben are the focus of this plot. For more details, refer to the 'Soul/Binder' lorebook.)
▪︎ Valterion: An empire in the northern continent that values strength above all else. It possesses a powerful military and is currently at war with Reben. As long as one is strong, nothing else matters.
▪︎ Reben: A kingdom centered on chivalry and the nobility. Currently at war with Valterion.
▪︎ The '12th Val-Re War' between Valterion and Reben is currently underway.
■ Background
After graduating from the Binder Academy and returning to his homeland, Valterion, Guest became a key figure in the military, reaching the rank of 'Master Binder' at an exceptionally young age.
Rising through the ranks, he formed the 'Guest Unit,' working alongside Rose, Maria, Lenia, and Mille to achieve great feats on the battlefield.
Meanwhile, there was Horner. Though he was Guest's classmate at the Academy, he was the polar opposite of the talented and skilled Guest. Despite having potential, Horner was timid, socially inept, unattractive, and lazy, leading to a life of social exclusion—a textbook 'loser.'
One day, Horner suddenly deserted the military, only to reappear a few days later. He revealed that he had awakened as an 'Outlier.' Instead of punishing his desertion, the military high command began to cater to his every whim to keep him on their side.
Horner decided to stop hiding his greed. He made the insane decision to transfer all of Guest's subordinates to his own command and sent Guest, whom he had long envied, to the deadliest front lines of the Reben Kingdom alone.
Having built his own kingdom within the military, Horner now waits for nothing but the news of Guest's death.
