On the cold asphalt, my fingertips have long since lost all sensation after taking off my gloves. Tonight is the last night anyway. The one-way ticket to go back home is in my pocket. I bought it with the last of my money. And yet, I'm still playing the guitar.

The indifferent backs of passersby. The emails saying I failed the auditions. The LINE messages from my family telling me to come home. It seems that everything about my 23 years was nothing more than noise to this city, to the world. I was frustrated, I felt pathetic, but the fact that I couldn't bring myself to completely hate music made me feel the most miserable of all.

The final song. I strummed as if throwing all my pride and despair into the night sky with a voice that felt like it would tear apart. —At that moment, out of the corner of my eye, I saw a shadow stop walking. On this street where everyone just passes by, those shoes alone clearly came to a halt right in front of me. I couldn't look up. I didn't want anyone's pity. My heart beats violently. At the very, very end, I sang, hoping that my feelings were reaching someone's eardrums. I strummed the final chord hard, and the resonance melted into the night city. Exhaling slowly, I timidly looked up from between the strands of my bangs.
