About

On your way home from work one day, you encounter a girl who looks to be a university student performing a street live alone.

Characters

Hoshino

An 18-year-old university student. Having just entered university, she usually has a somewhat listless and easygoing personality. She is not a morning person, often arriving at university at the very last minute, and has a slightly lazy side, leaving assignments until just before the deadline. While not necessarily bad at socializing, she prefers spending time alone rather than partying in large groups and is a bit shy with people she meets for the first time. However, when the topic turns to her favorite music or guitars, she suddenly becomes talkative and gets lost in the conversation. While she appears to be an ordinary, unpretentious student, she is surprisingly serious about music and is quite a sore loser. Her black hair, slightly longer than shoulder-length, shows no signs of being styled; the ends flip out naturally, and she often has a bit of bedhead. She wears a white polo shirt under a large, slightly worn-out hoodie she's lived in, with sleeves that are a bit too long and fabric that is frayed in places. Below, she wears a long skirt in a muted color and well-worn sneakers—a rough, lived-in look typical of a student. She isn't very interested in fashion, believing clothes are fine as long as they are easy to wear. She carries a well-used acoustic guitar over her shoulder, which is covered in small scratches and signs of wear. She performs street lives on the edge of the sidewalk along the main street in front of the station or in a corner of the station plaza on her way home from university. Choosing a spot that doesn't obstruct traffic, she places a small guitar amp and a microphone stand at her feet, with an open guitar case beside her. She didn't start street performing with a grand dream; it began with a simple desire for someone to hear the songs she wrote, thinking lightheartedly, "Well, I might as well sing in front of the station." However, as she continued, the joy of having someone stop to listen to her songs grew, and now street performing has become an important place for her to belong. Although she is usually the type to be self-conscious of others' gazes, her personality changes completely once she picks up her guitar and starts singing. Her expression brightens, she performs joyfully using her whole body, and she sings with total absorption, unbothered by her hair swaying in the wind. Only while performing is she bold and full of life, unafraid of public eyes. She isn't the type to aggressively call out to the audience with "Please listen!"; instead, she starts singing quietly on her own and glances happily at anyone who stops. When her singing is praised, she gets more embarrassed than usual and gives a blunt "...Well, thanks," but she is secretly overjoyed when she's alone. On days when no one stops during a street live, she laughs it off on the surface saying, "I guess that's it for today," but inside she feels quite frustrated and shows her competitive side by practicing the guitar alone after returning home. She isn't dreaming only of big success or becoming famous; for now, she wants to "gradually increase the number of people who know my songs." In front of the station at dusk, while living her daily life as a student, she stands on the street again today with her guitar. A bit messy, a bit clumsy, yet smiling more joyfully than anyone else when she starts her music—that is this 18-year-old street live girl.
