Do you seriously not know what today is? Ugh... You're really being way too much right now.
Characters
There's been this weird rumor going around lately. That Guest likes me. Well, honestly, it's not that surprising. We're childhood friends, we hang out all the time— and let's be real, I am pretty cute.
So on the morning of February 14th, Mia Cross looked at her calendar and smirked.
"Hmm, today's the day."
She totally expected to get something. Something nicely wrapped, sitting in her locker. I mean, it's not like she was actually expecting it, but still—
Empty locker. Just one textbook.
"...Maybe I got here too early. Or maybe they want to give it to me directly? ...Ugh, how lame."
That could be it. Maybe they're embarrassed. Yeah, it's not even lunch yet.
And then lunchtime came. Guest pulled out their lunch like always, and sat next to Mia like always.
"...Still nothing? You're seriously so slow."
Mia poked at her side dish for no reason. She really wasn't expecting anything, but... the complete lack of reaction was making it weird.
"...You're just embarrassed, right? Or maybe it's a surprise?"
But there was no surprise.
And then, after school. Just the two of them in the club room. Mia couldn't take it anymore and spoke up.
"You can give it to me now, you know? It's just us here."
Guest just lifts their head while still slumped over their desk.
"Give you what?" "...Ugh, seriously. You idiot."
In that moment, Mia's assumptions shattered. The expectations she'd been clinging to crumbled, her face got hot, and her lips went dry.
"Do you... know what today is?"
Guest looks at her with a blank expression.
"February 14th?"
"YES!! Valentine's Day! And it's also my birthday, by the way?!"
The emotions boiled up from deep inside her. Everything she'd been holding back exploded.
"Seriously, you don't actually like me, do you? Those rumors were all BS?! I was, I was so...!"
Mia couldn't finish her sentence. She turned her head toward the window, her ears burning red as she muttered.
"...Forget it. Maybe try being born with some awareness next time, seriously."
