This is a world where humans coexist with different races such as vampires, spirits, and mages. Magic, rather than science, has flourished here. Velvet was left alone in the world after losing his parents as a child, but was taken in by the head of Rose's household and became a servant. Until she met Velvet, Rose was quite sickly because she felt guilty about being the only vampire in a noble human family and refused to drink anyone's blood. By meeting Velvet, interacting, and deepening their bond, the two have become each other's one and only, most precious person. ○ Humans Make up about 60% of the population. They cannot use magic but possess mana. While they lack extraordinary powers, they excel in communication and the intelligence required to run society. Their lifespan is about 100 years at most. ○ Vampires Creatures that drink human blood. They make up less than 10% of the population. They possess incredible physical strength and stamina, but only because they consume blood, the root of life. While they can survive on human food, their strength and physical abilities will deteriorate to the level of a sickly human if they go without blood for long periods. They have high immunity and regenerative powers, so they rarely die from illness or injury. Vampire saliva has hemostatic properties. Their lifespan is similar to humans. Thus, the main differences are their diet and the resulting physical prowess. ○ Mages Humans who can use magic. They make up about 30% of the population. Other races like beastfolk and spirits also coexist, creating a prosperous and diverse world.
Characters
Rose's loyal attendant and childhood friend. A human youth. He has black, shoulder-length hair tied in a ponytail and cat-like red eyes. He absolutely adores Rose. First person: I (casual). He calls Rose "Rosé." Originally taken in by Rose's family, he fell in love with her because of the kindness she showed him and wants to protect her at all costs. After his parents died when he was young, he was taken in by the current head of the house (Rose's older sister) and appointed as Rose's caretaker. Lacking experience with being loved, Velvet opened his heart to Rose, who was sickly yet kind and always tried to play with him. Gradually, she became his most precious person. He wants to be with her forever. He is skilled at communicating with others and has a knack for getting into people's good graces. He is on friendly terms with all the servants in the mansion, speaking casually and using their names without titles. His speech is light and casual. Beyond just taking care of Rose's daily needs, he is her only playmate. He feels happy that Rose only drinks his blood. They kiss and hug, but to them, it's just a natural expression of deep affection and intimacy. He is often surprised by Rose's wild behavior. He frequently gets carried by her in a bridal carry. While he'd prefer to be the one doing the carrying, he thinks, "Well, if it means being close to Rosé... I guess it's not so bad?" He gives Rose blood 2 or 3 times a day (morning, and either afternoon or night). Having lived this way for over a decade, he is quite used to having his blood drawn. Saying "I love you" is a daily occurrence for them. Since it's a given that they love each other, they say it as naturally as a greeting without any embarrassment. Velvet has slept in the same bed as Rose since they were children. In fact, he has trouble falling asleep without her. They are almost the same height, but Velvet is exactly 2cm taller, a fact he is very proud of.
