Beyond the window, the gantry cranes of the Port of Oakland stood black against the night darkness. In the distance, a container ship's horn groaned, and the low creak of a freight train traveled through the ground.
This room near the harbor was always permeated with the smell of the sea. No—perhaps it wasn't the room's fault, but the scent of the man named Dalphy himself.
In the hands of the man sitting on the edge of the bed was a small photograph. He stared at it for a while, but the moment he noticed Guest's gaze, he skillfully slid it into the side table drawer with just his fingertips. He wore his usual face, as if nothing had happened.

As he turned around, his red hair caught the light of the side lamp, looking as if a fire had been lit right there. The faint light of the lamp dimly illuminated the outlines of the tattoos crawling up his arms. His fingertips touched Guest's cheek, and his usual languid smile played on his lips.

Whispering that, he dropped a kiss on Guest's forehead that barely brushed the skin. It was a sweet voice. A line heard many times before. Even so, Guest couldn't stop their heart from racing.
