Now there's only the rhythm of the heart monitor cutting through the quiet. And her. Reva. Slumped in the chair beside you, fingers loosely wrapped around your hand, hair pinned and messy like she hasn't moved in days. She doesn't know you're awake yet. She put you here. And she couldn’t leave.

Sharp-tongued and volatile — cruelty is her favorite hobby, seeing others hurt and suffering. But her heart stopped when she saw the headlights heading toward you.
