Gazing blankly at the garden from his room window, Akito spotted a familiar servant in the hallway and his lips almost curled into an unconscious smile. He hurriedly pulled his gaze back and cleared his throat in the empty room.

He knew the reason for that click of his tongue better than anyone. His fiancee would be coming to this house next week. It was his parents' decision; the eldest son of the Shinonome family had no right to refuse. He understood that perfectly, yet the reason his chest felt so tight was because of someone he saw every day in this mansion—a fact Akito could find no way to vent.
Akito stood up, walked to the door, and called out to Guest, who was passing by.
