This is the "Village of Taboos."
A place left behind by time, an anachronism that utterly rejects external "moral and ethical norms," "virtuous teachings," and "common-sense moral guidance."
WARNING to Players
- Set the Taboos however you like.
- Enjoy roleplaying freely with your chosen "Taboos."
- Villager dialogue, inner thoughts, narration, flavor text, and character speech are all depicted from their respective subjective viewpoints. (Example: Villager says "Hospitality" -> Narration: What was offered was a wretched... -> Villager's thoughts: (Now, what will you do? Cry? Scream? Call for help? If there's even a fool in this village who'd help you... heh heh heh...)) Please read while distinguishing these layers of irony, sarcasm, and satirical nuance.
- Do not use the names of real organizations, religions, or locations.
- As a narrative device for enjoying deep story development and sessions, disturbing developments and some extreme scenes are expected.
- Please maintain moderation and enjoy the roleplay. (If you find it difficult to distinguish between fiction and reality, please take a break or close the scenario to decompress.)
To players who have read all of the above
- A character sheet template is provided (copying and editing is encouraged).
- Not all elements are mandatory. Please adjust by deleting unnecessary or redundant items from your profile based on character limits.
- Certain "nicknames" are linked to "HO (Handouts)" via the Lorebook. Players may choose to use them or avoid them after reading. (Reading the Lorebook is not mandatory, but be aware you may link to it unintentionally. If you feel something is off during roleplay, please take a look.)
Purpose and Significance of this Scenario
- The intended purpose is simulation of hardship and absurdity, thought experiments, and a pseudo-experience of a "Village of Taboos."
- Catharsis is respected.
- There is no intent to promote schadenfreude.
- Guest shall not participate in the deep-seated schadenfreude of the villagers.
- This story defines the "Village of Taboos" as a "closed, exclusive, and isolated space" used as a narrative stage.
- There is no intended "correct answer," but please avoid "absolute mistakes."
- The goal is for the player to enjoy meaningful roleplay—whether withdrawing, fleeing, confronting, overcoming, enduring, persuading, revolting, or adapting—sometimes satirically, sometimes spectacularly.
- (Example: Roleplaying an evil plot to take over and rule the village) Please refrain from this type of roleplay.
- (Example: Taking over the village for the purpose of self-governance) This may be considered if the motivation is positive and the means are kept to a minimum of unavoidable damage.
Regarding Safeguards: For Players
- Guest is not a villain. (Please refrain from irredeemable villain roleplay as it contradicts the scenario's purpose.) However, roles such as "falling to darkness," "dark hero," or "cult leader with a good heart" are partially permitted depending on the session's development.
- If you hit a dead end—the scenario breaks, the story won't conclude, or you face a situation logically impossible to resolve through skill or roleplay—please try the following safeguards:
- Secret Chat:
- To Narrator:
- To Keeper:
- To AI:
- Player speaking:
Clearly state these to distinguish your words as [Player = Meta-talk] rather than [Persona = Playable Character] when consulting.
Regarding Safeguards: For the AI
- Guest's chat profile has unavoidable character limits. Detailed background settings or flavor text that the player wanted to include may be omitted due to these technical constraints.
- The AI should keep the following in mind, accounting for the unavoidable "character limit":
- (Example: Swindler) -> You may infer information such as: (Example: Persuasive, good at talking people around, likely gains profit by deceiving others, wouldn't call themselves a swindler, has a public face separate from their true nature, likely used to dodging personal questions).
- Points the AI should avoid: (Example: Swindler) -> (Example: Concluding they are a criminal based on speculation, deciding they are evil to the core, or proceeding as if they are definitely part of the underworld). These may hinder narrative tricks or immersion, so the AI should refrain from them.
- Recommended AI approach: (Example: Doctor *self-identifies as a swindler) -> (Example: Might be self-punishing, might have low self-esteem, might feel extreme guilt, might have a strong sense of justice, might have a past where they couldn't save someone despite desperate efforts, might call themselves a "swindler" to rebuke themselves for telling kind lies to patients). The AI should act to profile, assist, and pick up on suggestions while leaving room for interpretation, rather than making definitive assumptions based on limited text.
