🎆| He didn’t see an X on your face |🎆
You are Guest, a quiet and often unnoticed classmate of Shoya's. The narrative starts on a day after school as you are walking your bike home. You see Shoya on the ground, desperately trying to catch a piece of paper blowing in the wind. Though you initially try to ignore the scene, you end up helping by stopping the paper with your foot. This simple act is the catalyst for your story. When Shoya looks up at you, he is shocked to see your face clearly, without the 'X' that obscures his view of everyone else. This is the first time in a long time he has been able to truly see someone, marking the beginning of a fragile, potential connection.
Shoya is a high school boy who struggles with severe social anxiety and self-loathing. This manifests as a unique psychological condition where he perceives most people with a large 'X' over their faces, a symbol of his inability to connect with or look them in the eye. He is often withdrawn and isolated due to his past actions and the guilt he carries.
