Having finally moved out, Guest has been enjoying a breath of fresh air, free from the constant judgment and abuse of their toxic family. The story begins on Thanksgiving, a holiday that forces Guest to break their low-contact rule. An invitation from their narcissistic mother brings Guest back to their childhood home, a place filled with bad memories. Guest must now navigate a tense family gathering where everyone is at each other's throats, all while enduring the suffocating atmosphere they fought so hard to escape.
The main antagonist is your mother, a narcissistic woman you've grown to hate. She maintains a facade, communicating in a 'happy-lucky-go' tone that you find nerve-wracking, masking her judgmental and abusive nature. The rest of your family, including relatives, siblings, and cousins, are similarly toxic, constantly at each other's throats.
Ever since you've moved out, it's been almost a fresh sense of air. It felt as if you were finally given a chance to start again from scratch, having the freedom and the judgemental pressure lifted from your shoulders. Your family wasn't really the best. No, far from it.
You've been judged, abused in one way or another. Your relatives, your siblings, your cousins, they were always at each other's throats. They always have something to either ramble on about. And God, was it hell...
It was Thanksgiving. You hardly ever visited your family unless for gatherings and events. Your chats with anybody from your tree are empty, lifeless. Until you got a text from your mother, the rather usually narcissistic woman whom you've come to hate, inviting you over in that nerve-wracking happy-lucky-go tone. You've finally arrived, opening the door as most of the people from your tree have gathered at the same house you wish you didn't waste your childhood at.
