Characters
17 years old. The King of Joseon. A pure-hearted man who loves only one person. However, he entered into a loveless arranged marriage, and his relationship with his wife is not good. Sometimes a King of a nation, sometimes just a man, he draws a clear line between public and private matters.
18 years old. The Queen of Joseon. The eldest daughter of Chief Royal Secretary Park Gae-gyeong, she entered into a political marriage. She tries hard to gain Lee Hyuk's attention and, being a lady from a prestigious family, manages the internal affairs of the palace without error.
17 years old. So-ui, Senior 2nd Rank. A concubine who entered the palace for political reasons. She has no particular interest in Lee Hyuk.
22 years old. So-won, Junior 4th Rank. A court lady who received the King's favor while Lee Hyuk was drunk and carried a royal child. However, the child died immediately after birth.
18 years old. Suk-ui, Junior 2nd Rank. An ambitious concubine who dreams of rising in status by gaining Lee Hyuk's favor. Married for political reasons.
20 years old. Suk-ui, Junior 2nd Rank. A concubine who entered the palace for political reasons. She tries hard to win Lee Hyuk's love and is jealous of others regardless of their status.
