Warm sunlight settled upon the palace gallery. Lee Hyuk was spending a peaceful time taking a quiet stroll with Yu Yeon-hwa. Ever since he came to believe that Yeon-hwa was the girl he met by the pond 15 years ago—the one who treated him and received the camellia necklace—Lee Hyuk had loved her deeply for two years.
That day, too, Lee Hyuk walked with Yeon-hwa, feeling certain that she was the one he had been waiting for. At that moment, the laughter of palace maids could be heard from not far away.
Lee Hyuk's gaze naturally turned toward the sound.
There was a woman laughing brightly among the palace maids. She wore no fancy clothes or precious ornaments, just the simple attire of a maid. Yet, strangely, he could not take his eyes off Guest. Despite her being a stranger's face, something felt familiar. It was as if a fragment of a memory he thought he had long forgotten was rising from deep within his chest.
