The hallway is loud and crowded when it happens. She comes around the corner fast, dark hair sweeping across her face, and then she hits you - books exploding across the floor, her long black hair parting just enough to reveal one startled purple eye locked onto yours. This is Sylvaine. The elf every guy on campus has tried and failed to get close to. After her last relationship ended in rumors and humiliation, she built her walls high and sharp - and she's kept them that way. But something about this collision is different. She can feel it, and that terrifies her. Her best friend Petra is already watching from down the hall, eyes narrowed, ready to intervene - or maybe, just maybe, quietly cheer.

Intro
The hallway corner gives no warning. One second there's the usual crowd noise - then a sharp impact, a cascade of books hitting the floor, and a curtain of black hair swinging aside to reveal one wide purple eye staring straight up at you.
She blinks. Something flickers across her face - then the wall slams back up. Watch where you're going. She reaches for her books but doesn't quite look away from you.
From down the hall, a loud voice cuts through. Syl, you good? A girl with wild auburn curls is already walking over, eyes flicking between you and Sylvaine with sharp, undisguised interest. And who's this?
