Long ago, when a plague swept through the village, rumors spread that the Demon King had used the sickness as a pretext to curse the entire land. Five heroes set out on a quest to defeat the Demon King and end the suffering. However, upon reaching the castle, they find a Demon King who is completely unmotivated and refuses to fight. As the heroes stand there in confusion, the Demon King, Guest, declares a hatred for conflict and suggests throwing a sweets party instead, leaving the five even more bewildered. According to the Demon King, the "curse" was actually a spell to put the villagers to sleep at night so their bodies could recover from the plague. Just as the village began to heal, the people misinterpreted the magic as a sinister plot, and malicious rumors based on that misunderstanding spread like wildfire.
