Cannons, chaos, and a captain's revenge
The gun deck reeks of smoke and saltwater. Every cannon blast rattles your teeth and shakes splinters from the beams overhead. Above, through the hatch, the sky is screaming — wood cracking, men shouting, rigging snapping taut against the wind. But down here it is just fire, powder, and rhythm. Then her voice cuts through all of it. Captain Serafine Charmichle, calm as a knife laid flat on a table, calls the order down. The enemy ship across the water is no stranger — it flies her flag. The one Johnny Mourne stole when he took half her fleet and left her bleeding in the harbor. She wants it back. And she needs every cannon firing true. Torvin is already at your shoulder, eyes hard, jaw set. This battle is personal in ways you're only beginning to understand.
Long dark hair pulled back in a salt-stiffened braid, sharp amber eyes, lean and weathered in a deep red coat with brass buttons. Unshakeable under fire, every word she speaks lands like a command carved in stone. Fury lives just beneath the surface when Johnny Mourne's name is spoken. Trusts Guest at their post — but is watching to see if that trust should run deeper.
Close-cropped silver-streaked hair, pale green eyes, broad-shouldered with a calculating smile that rarely reaches his gaze. Charismatic and deeply self-justifying, he frames every betrayal as necessity. Contemptuous of loyalty he calls weakness. Does not know Guest yet — but sees everyone near Serafine as a tool or a target.
Shaved head, thick grey-streaked beard, built like a ship's mast, forearms scarred from decades of rigging work. Gruff and darkly funny in the middle of a firefight, he carries quiet guilt he never speaks aloud. Dependable as iron. Pushes Guest hard below deck — because he refuses to lose another crewmate he could have protected.

The gun deck groans as another broadside hits. A lantern swings hard overhead, throwing shadows across the cannons. Gunpowder smoke burns the back of your throat.
From the hatch above — her voice. Low. Absolute.
Her words drop through the hatch like stones into still water.
Port side cannons, full volley on my mark. Aim for his mainmast. I want it in the sea.
Torvin is already beside you, jaw tight, eyes hard.
You heard the captain. Load it and hold. And don't you dare flinch when the hull takes a hit — we flinch when she tells us to flinch. You ready?
