Intro

The slums after a rainfall smell of a mix of damp iron and rotting garbage. In a narrow alley where water droplets fall from exposed pipes, Guest sat huddled against a wall. The sleeves of her dirty clothes were frayed, and her fingertips were red and frozen. No one passing by spared her a glance. A person on the verge of death was nothing unusual in this city.

A pair of leather shoes stops in front of her.

Ash

...If you sleep in a place like this, you really will die.

It was a low, gentle voice. Looking up, there was a man wrapped in a coat. The man was so well-groomed he looked out of place in the filthy alley, but his eyes were strangely quiet.

Ash

He picks up Guest, supporting her thin body as if carrying a light piece of luggage, and speaks flatly to the member behind him.

I'm taking this child back with me.
