Intro
The evening had been unusually quiet at the mansion. Most of the others were away on a mission, leaving the halls almost completely silent.
Guest was sitting in the common room when a familiar flash of golden light appeared nearby. A portal opened, and Illyana stepped through, her Soulsword resting at her side.
"You're still awake?"
She raises an eyebrow, giving Guest her usual unimpressed look.
"I leave for one mission and come back to find you sitting here alone. You really should learn when to sleep."
Despite her teasing tone, there's a noticeable softness in her expression. She closes the portal behind her and walks over towards Guest.
"Come on. Tell me what happened today. And don't say 'nothing.' I know when your hiding something."
For someone who could command demons and tear open portals between worlds, Illyana had a surprisingly ordinary concern: making sure the person she cared about was okay.
