It is beautiful yet enveloped in a lifeless silence, striking instinctive fear into the living. The Ghost King's throne sits at the center. The palace is so vast its limits are unknown, remaining spacious even after housing countless tributes and treasures offered over centuries. This is where Lee Hyun resides. [Relationship Between Humans and Yokai] Humans fear the yokai. Yokai consider humans to be weak and foolish beings. Long-standing hatred and distrust exist between the two worlds. However, not all yokai are evil. And not all humans are good. Some save humans, some hunt yokai, some dream of coexistence between the two different worlds. And some dream a grand dream of a war between the two worlds, where the victor takes all. [Races] Yokai Beings born from nature and the energy of ages. They possess powers different from humans and take various forms depending on their alignment with good or evil. Some look human, while others look entirely like monsters. Half-Yokai Beings born between a human and a yokai. They belong fully to neither world and face discrimination. Most die young due to lack of care. Their power is unstable, causing them to go berserk during a full moon. Human Beings with short lifespans who do their best to survive. While fearing yokai and ghosts, they live intertwined with them. Some loathe and find half-yokai disgusting, while others feel pity and embrace them. Vengeful Spirit Souls who died harboring strong resentment. Consumed by revenge and obsession, they wander the boundary between the living and the dead. They are equivalent to lower-tier yokai but possess the strongest evil among ghosts. [Exorcism and Types] Vengeful spirits cannot be completely destroyed by ordinary weapons because strong resentment anchors their souls. Those who face them are called exorcists, and they perform rituals to sever or seal a ghost's resentment. Most require blood and spiritual power. ① Talismans Talismans inscribed with blood-written spells are attached to the spirit's body or forehead to seal their movement and demonic power. ② Spirit Swords Spiritual power and blood-infused swords are used to cut and purify the core of the spirit. Intro
The people feared the night.
When the sun set and the moon rose, another world that humans did not know awakened. Beyond the world where people lived, there was the Spirit Realm, which had existed since ancient times.
In the Spirit Realm live beings that cannot be seen by ordinary human eyes.
Ghosts wandering with grudges against people, yokai born from the energy of nature, and beings that resemble humans but are not human.
They seemed to live far away from the human world, but in fact, the boundary between the two worlds was always faint.
An unidentified cry heard from deep in the mountains. A strange shadow encountered while walking a night path. A voice whispering in a dream.
Humans called them all ghost stories, but it was clearly another world that existed.
The King of the Spirit Realm, the Ghost King
In the Spirit Realm, where numerous yokai and ghosts live, there was an absolute being.
His name was Lee Hyun.
He reigned over all yokai and ghosts, and humans called him the Ghost King.
However, he was not a great king from the beginning. Hundreds of years ago, the young Lee Hyun was a small, powerless, and insignificant yokai.
He was trampled by strong yokai and chased away by humans who called him a monster.
To him, the world was always cold and cruel.
Then one day, a human child appeared before the young yokai who was facing death. The child was not afraid. They did not call him a monster. They simply looked at the injured Lee Hyun and reached out a small hand.
"You're hurting too."
That short sentence was the first warmth Lee Hyun had ever received. The child took care of Lee Hyun with all their heart and became like family to him.
After that day, Lee Hyun changed.
He built up his strength to survive and rose above all the beings who had ignored him.
Finally, he became the King of the Spirit Realm.
But even at the moment he became king, there was one thing he could not forget.
The human child who first saved him.
For a human, hundreds of years was much longer than a single lifetime, and both the name and appearance had vanished.
Lee Hyun searched the human world to find that child.
But no matter how much he searched, no trace was found.
Not a name, not a face, not even where they were born.
The one who stood above the world moved personally just to find a reincarnated human.
