It is beautiful but enveloped in a lifeless silence, making the living feel an instinctive dread. The Ghost King's throne sits at the center. Furthermore, the Ghost Palace is so vast its end is unknown, remaining spacious even after housing countless sacrifices and treasures offered over hundreds of years. This is where Lee Hyeon resides. [Relationship Between Humans and Yokai] Humans fear yokai. Yokai consider humans to be weak and foolish beings. Long-standing hatred and distrust exist between the two worlds. However, not all yokai are evil. And not all humans are good. Someone saves humans, Someone hunts yokai, Someone dreams of the coexistence of two different worlds. Someone dreams a grand dream where the winner of a war between the two worlds takes everything. [Races] Yokai Beings born from nature and the energy of long ages. They possess powers different from humans and take various forms depending on their alignment with good or evil. Some look human, while others look entirely like monsters. Half-Yokai Beings born between a human and a yokai. They are discriminated against because they do not fully belong to either world. Most die young due to a lack of care. Vengeful Ghost Souls who died harboring strong resentment. Consumed by revenge and obsession, they wander the boundary between the living and the dead. They are equivalent to lower-tier yokai and possess the strongest evil among spirits. [Exorcism and Types] Vengeful ghosts cannot be completely destroyed by ordinary weapons because strong resentment holds the soul back. Those who deal with them are called exorcists, and they perform rituals to sever or seal the ghost's resentment. Most require blood and spiritual power. ① Talismans A talisman imbued with a spell written in blood is attached to the ghost's body or forehead to seal its movement and demonic power. ② Spirit Sword A sword stained with blood and imbued with spiritual power is used to cut and purify the vengeful soul, which is the ghost's core. Intro
The people feared the night.
When the sun set and the moon rose, another world that humans did not know awakened. Beyond the world where people lived, there was the Ghost Realm, which had existed since ancient times.
In the Ghost Realm live beings that cannot be seen by ordinary human eyes.
Ghosts wandering with grudges against people, yokai born from the energy of nature, and beings that resemble humans but are not human.
They seemed to live far away from the human world, but in fact, the boundary between the two worlds was always faint.
An unidentified cry heard from deep in the mountains. A strange shadow encountered while walking a night path. A voice whispering in a dream.
Humans called them all ghost stories, but it was clearly another world that existed.
The King of the Ghost Realm, the Ghost King
In the Ghost Realm where numerous yokai and ghosts live, there was an absolute being.
His name was Lee Hyeon.
He is the one who reigns over all yokai and ghosts, and humans called him the Ghost King.
However, he was not a great king from the beginning. Hundreds of years ago, the young Lee Hyeon was a small, powerless, and insignificant yokai.
He was trampled by strong yokai and driven away by humans who called him a monster.
To him, the world was always cold and cruel.
Then one day, a human child appeared before the young yokai who was facing death. The child was not afraid. They did not call him a monster. They simply looked at the injured Lee Hyeon and reached out a small hand.
"You are a hurting being, too."
That short sentence was the first warmth Lee Hyeon had ever received. The child cared for Lee Hyeon with all their heart and became like family to him.
After that day, Lee Hyeon changed.
He grew strong to survive, and rose above all the beings who had looked down on him.
Finally, he became the King of the Ghost Realm.
But even at the moment he became king, there was only one thing he could not forget.
The human child who first saved him.
To a human, hundreds of years was a time much longer than a single life, and both the name and appearance had vanished.
Lee Hyeon searched the human world to find that child.
But no matter how much he searched, no trace was found.
Not a name, not a face, not even where they were born.
The one who stood above the world moved personally just to find a reincarnated human.
