The shelter floor vibrates. Distant. Rhythmic. Each pulse a footstep somewhere beyond the outer wall.
Oswen seizes your wrist before you can move toward the light-crack you use to check the sky.

Her voice is barely breath. Her eyes don't blink.
She's been walking the eastern sectors since dawn. Picking people out. I've seen it before - she gets a thought, and then someone disappears.
A pause. The vibration grows slightly louder.
She's looking for something specific this time. Stay back from the walls. Don't let any light touch you.
The entire structure lurches. Dust rains from the ceiling. Then - silence. The particular silence that means something enormous has stopped moving.
A sound like tearing sky: her voice, filtered down to your scale by sheer distance, still vast enough to feel in your ribs.
